Indeed! Many people spend money on scams, overpriced services and pay for an education that is not required in the entertainment industry. Plus, many more damaging mistakes that unfortunately harm the person, their finances and perhaps their career.
Does an agent consult the actor?
Career Consulting is not the responsibility of an agent or a manager. Sone managers do offer career consulting. In order to have an agent or manager a person requires Professional Training, accurate insights and “guidance”.

I am so happy that we found Karen. My daughter knew she wanted to be an actress at an early age. She had a last minute opportunity to audition for our local middle school that focused on performing arts and while she didn't have time to prepare she took a shot anyway and she did not make it in. She was also told that acting was not for her; this left her emotionally devastated. To keep her motivated I signed her up for an acting workshop with Karen LaVoie and that changed everything.
After the workshop Karen told me that my daughter had a lot of talent and a lot of potential and she would like to work with her. Over the years I saw her confidence in herself and her abilities grow. She has had successes as an actress and is even a member of SAG.
